MP-14

Hello and good day! I'm very proud to present my next review....... MP-14 Red Alert! Yes I know he is yesterdays's news, but I'm happy and proud to say that I've just got mine! He proves to be very elusive considering the fact that he was release I think 2 years ago? Most toy shops don't have him anymore and we have to be careful with all the KO around. But at long last, I found him, and I'm very very happy indeed.

Red alert was not a very popular character in the G1 cartoon but he did have a whole episode about him in "Auto berserk" where his paranoid nature gave the autobots a big headache. He's paranoid nature suits his position as he is the security director of the autobots. He transforms into a Lamborghini Countach LP500S used by the fire department. MP-14 is basically the same mold as MP-12 with some minor differences, but he is an entirely different character.

Here are some pictures I've taken from the internet
Red Alert is very similar to Sideswipe with some notable differences.
1. Their paint job is different.
2. Slight difference in their canon design and position. Side's wipe's canon is on the left.
3. His wheels form his shoulders
4. The car doors are over-hanging from either side of his arms
5. 2 small protrusions just in front of his chest.
6. Head mold is different.

Close up

Episode in Auto Berserk where he becomes more paranoid than ever. With those bluish short-circuits

One of the G1 episodes - Dinobot island.

And when he was rescued by inferno..... well it didn't matter to me when I was 8 years old watching this but now looking back, this picture is wrong in so many ways.. lol

Well here is another black box, similar to other MP cars

Back of the box.

Once you open the box, this is what you get. He has got the short-circuit thing instead of MP-12's pile drivers.

Everybody's favorite collector's card.

Some stats and bio. Can't imagine a Lamborghini with a speed stats of only 3.......

Instruction manual.

He he is out of the box. He sure is a beauty.
Aside from the different paint job from Sideswipe, he also has the siren on top of his vehicle mode, other than that, not much different from MP-12's vehicle mode.

Front view.

Side view.

Top view.

From this view we can clearly see the opening to insert his weapon onto his vehicle mode.

Close up on the siren

Weapon to maintain law and order, or rather as a ?water hose

Similar to MP-12, you can insert both his weapons on his siren

Top view

Here he is without his siren. Do you think he looks better this way?

Basically a cleaner look.

Here he is in robot mode. His transformation is exactly the same as MP-12 with some minor differences. I must say Takara did a good job paying attention to details. First of all, the paint job is spot on and good quality, the head scalp is slightly different from MP-12, there are "wheels" at the side of his shoulders but these wheels are not from the alternate mode, rather they are just there to make him G1 accurate. It does not spins around or anything. His shoulder canon is basically from the same mold , just different color. Surprisingly Takara also included the 2 small whitish protrusions in front of his chest. Well it basically did not serve any purpose in this figure, but again, good job from Takara to be as G1 accurate as possible.

From the side view we can see the wheels on his shoulder clearly

Back view is pretty much the same.

Close up on Red.

Here you can see the 2 small protrusions on his chest.

His weapon mold is also the same as MP-12, just different paint job.

Posability is similar as MP-12

He has this extra accessory which features his short circuit

" Damn..... I've got a bad headache.... better have Ratchet take a look. "

Here he is with his friends with almost similar molds. Told myself again and again not to but MP-12G and MP-14 but I succumb to the poison in the end...... I just have to have him..... man the addiction.....

Well the good news is that you can play around with all 3 of them and they can share their weapons, which adds a lot of replay value.

Mix and match any way you like.

MP-12's pile drivers fit in just fine.

Beware Decepticons! We are ready.

Group photo.

More Pictures.

" Glade that you can join us Red Alert, welcome aboard!"

Picture I got from the internet featuring MP-14 and his G1 toy. The G1 toy don't look too bad I must say. Again, we are blessed to have the MP line these few years and for a G1 fan like me, I'm a 8 year old every time I open up another box of Transformers figure.

Thank you for reading.
