Hasbro Transformers Generation: Rhinox

Hello and welcome once again. Next in my review is Hasbro's Generation figure, Rhinox from the beast wars series. Honestly, when the beast wars series came out, I was a little disappointed as this time, the transformers all transform into organic creatures and I think the idea of optimus transforming into a gorilla is very funny, but as the series goes on, I find it more and more interesting and the story line is not bad  for a transformers series and I kind of enjoy the show as a whole. The 3D animation is not half bad as well during that time ( above average for me ) and it gets cooler when the series went into the transmetal era, featuring more bots and some upgrades for the original crew. I think my favorite character in the series is Tigertron.

Oh well, moving on to my review, Rhinox is one of the original crew members of the Maximals, when their ship crash landed on earth. He transforms into a rhinoceros and is one of the toughest and biggest maximal. He is a natural born leader, intelligent and strong, but at the same time, slow and steady. He is such a strong and resourceful maximal that Megatron even reprogrammed him into a Predacon, but he proves that without ethics and moral constrains, he can be a very-very bad@$$ transformers, as he almost successfully dethrone Megatron. He has one of the cooler weapons among the maximal in the form of twin chain-guns/Gatling guns. Damage is slightly below average but once he starts firing those weapons, he looks damn cool with shells flying out from his weapon, spewing hot lead.

Here is a picture from the net showing the good Rhinox on the right and the evil one on the left. He was a bad@$$...... at least for 1 episode :)

Here is Rhinox in his box. Pretty much the same box design as Sandstorm.

At the back it shows his alternate rhino mode, robot mode and some bio.

He comes with his instruction manual and his twin Gatling guns

He is voyager size and he look absolutely stunning! The head, limbs and torso ratio is good, similarity with his beast wars self is very very accurate and I'm very happy with this figure.

Here is a close up look at Rhinox and the head scalp and detailing is excellent, the green and gold colour and those red eyes...... nice! They even apply the 2 Maximal symbols on his head which makes him 100% animation accurate and I really love their effort.

See the resemblance

Rhinox has a full 360 shoulder rotation

Full 90 degrees abduction.

Abduction and rotation.

Elbow joint has about 70 degree flexion.

Internal rotation of his elbows.

No individual finger articulations, no wrist rotations. His hands are pretty much fixed.

Still, he can do a perfect split :)

Some hip flexion action.

Knee flexion is about 80 degrees.

Limited hip extension due to his back pack.

Some tilting can be achieve on his foot.

Minimal waist rotations.

Side view looks pretty much like a rhino... lol

Back view look fine.

Now for his twin gatling guns. I think they look very cool and very animation accurate.

Check out the detailing on his weapon. It is just awesome! He even has 4 barrels to spew out lead just like in the animations. Very impress by his weapon design, but wait.... there's more than meets the eyes.

" Hope you like lead for breakfast Predacons!!! "

The best part for his weapon is that you can actually press a button on top and it makes his gatling gun spins , just like in the animations!

How cool is that!?

Next we move on to his Rhino mode. As a whole, I would say its a good alternate mode. The rhino skin covers almost all the robot parts, some of it is plastic, some of it is rubber. As I mention before in my blog during the Quadruple U review, Transformers which transforms into animal, and in this case, organic ones are harder to make and for this Rhinox figure, I don't have much to complain about. It is as good as it can be. The only flaw on this alternate mode is his limited articulations. His mouth can open and close, both his front legs have limited movements and that's about it. But not a big issue.

Side view looks ok. You can see the panels here and there and some green parts on his front legs, but its ok.

Back part too reveals some greenish robot parts.

Top view.

He can open up his jaws.

You can store his gatling guns under his belly which i think its pretty cool.

Here is a video I found from youtube regarding Rhinox. An appreciation...

All in all, I think he is a very cool figure to have if you like the beast wars series.
