Maketoys Quantron: Celeritas ( Not Lightspeed )

Hello and good day Transformers fans, my next review will be on Celeritas ( Not Lightspeed ). Celeritas is Maketoys version of Lightspeed. Lightspeed is one of the Technobots from G1 cartoon. He transforms into a Cybertronian car and also forms the leg of Computron. Lightspeed is basically an all-rounder, having intelligence, strength and speed, but he is still not satisfied as his lifelong dream is to turn into a shuttle to travel the stars. While Lightspeed is not my favorite Technobot, he is still a cool looking Transformer. For me, Lightspeed got the least love from its creators or they run out of idea as all the other Technobots got cool alternate modes, I mean you have a driller, 2 spaceships, and a futuristic motorbike. Lightspeed looks like a.... well, normal earth car.

Here are some pictures I got from the internet.

Not too bad looking in his robot mode, color is a bit plain though with almost 95% red in color
His alternate mode, well, nothing technologically advance about it.

Well, here we have Celeritas himself out of the box. For maketoys version of Lightspeed, I would say he's design is an upgrade from the G1 version of Lightspeed, but does not stray too far like Overheat. His chest piece is almost the same design as his G1 self, but his 4 limbs are different in design. His shoulders look decent enough, his legs is not what you usually expect, looks rather unique, something like Fansproject's Causality Car Crash. His chest and abdomen is the same width, making him look thin. Body, head and limbs ratio looks good, but his forearm and wrist region looks a little clumsy to me.

Side view looks OK

Back view is not too bad. Nothing to complain about.

His head sculpt is very near his G1 design, and will resemble his G1 self more without the horn like projections. No complains for the head sculpt, nicely done.

Side view of his head sculpt.

His head tilting movement is there, but fairly limited.

His head is on a ball joint and he can turn a full 360 degrees.

Shoulders like his other counterparts are on a ball and hinge joint. It does rotate around but his shoulder rotations are hindered by the 2 protruding parts from his knees.  Does not really make him look ugly, but wish there is a way to tuck them away.

His elbow flex to about 100 degrees.

Shoulder abduction is about 50 degrees.

Elbows are on a ball joint. can turn 360 degrees. His hands are in a fixed position, and does not really have a wrist rotation. You can manipulate is a little to allow some wrist rotations.

Well, you can bend his wrist down like this if you want to consider this as a range of movement.

His waist swivel allows him to turn a full 360 degrees.

He is able to do a perfect split.

His flexion is to about 90 degrees.

Hip extension is limited to about 40 degrees hindered by part of the windshield for his alternate mode located at his buttocks.

Knee flexion is about 90 degrees. In this position, we can clearly see the protruding part from his knees.

Thigh swivel does allow some rotations, probably about 120 degrees.

He does have some nice ankle tilt, more downwards than upwards.

He can also tilt his ankle outwards but not inwards. His ankles are on a ball joint.

He does comes with 2 orange transparent plastic blasters, much like Blindfire's weapon.

A little close up look. Its a very nicely detailed weapon.

Next we move on to his alternate mode. Maketoys does make his alternate mode more futuristic than his G1 self and I think this version of his alternate mode looks better than the G1 design. Love the details, love the hood design. Transformation is moderate difficulty especially if its your 1st time transforming his upper limbs.

Close up

Top view

Side view looks quite interesting as the orange light-pipping part of his foot makes it look like there is fire or exhaust coming at the side of his vehicle mode. Or I'm I having a little too much imaginations.  :)

Back view

His weapons can be attach on either side of his alternate mode.
There are 3 possible positions to attach his weapons namely front, middle and back with 2 slots either side to tab his weapons. This is the middle tab, which I prefer.

Here the weapons are attached at the front

A little posing wouldn't kill

HE is a fairly stable figure

" What are you looking at punk!"

" Blast em! Ask questions later!"

3 down, 2 more to go...

Here is a picture from the internet showing our beloved G1 Lightspeed figure. Not too bad for a figure in the 80's

Well I do welcome this upgrade version of Lightspeed in the form of Celeritas, and it does not stray very far from what he is suppose to look like in G1. No issues quality wise, plastic and paint job is good, fairly good articulations, stable to pose around, interesting transformation. Downside is the clumsy looking hands and protruding part from his knees which hinders some of his upper limb movements.

Thank you for reading folks!
