MP-17

Good day ladies and gentleman, next on my Transformer review is none other than MP-17, Prowl -Cybertron Military specialist. I have to admit that initially, when I saw his pictures before review, I thought he wont be as good as MP-12 Lambor/sideswipe, but after I actually got him and transform him, he looks very very nice, and the more I see him, the more I love him. His size is roughly the same as MP-12 in both alternate mode and robot mode. No die-cast, but good quality plastic, and I really love the fact that Takara actually listens to the fans review and suggestions and this time, they did an even better job on the face plate and his head and face design is almost 100% accurate. The paint job is even better than MP-12 and its even in colour, no blemishes, and better QC I suppose, because mine had no scratches on it. He was perfect.

His alternate mode which is the Nissan Fairlady 280Z-T is similar to bluestreak and smokescreen. And again, no complains here for the alternate mode. He just looks too good. Tyres are plastic, not rubber, but he does move nicely. Transformation is also a bit tricky at first, but once you are used to it, you can transform him quite easily.

He comes in a box similar to MP-12

Collector's card as usual :)

Instructions manual

In some episodes, he does have his shoulder canons, in most episodes, he does not have it.

Alternate mode looks good, old school police patrol car. Nissan Fairlady is also one of my favorite cars.  :)

His weapon can be fixed at the back of his siren, but honestly it does not look nice, same goes to MP-12 for this mode, but I guess its a good way not to loose your weapon.

You can do his transformation, just like G1 with his hands do some kind of push-up moves before turning into a robot.

Transformation of his upper body complete.

His head scalp as I said before, is very accurate and very very nice indeed. The best one so far for the few MP toys that I own.

Looks very nice and G1 accurate in robot mode, not much complains. Head, body, limbs ratio is as good as you can get. Articulation is again excellent for MP series. Love it.

Posing with his shoulder canons

Articulation is so good that you can do a kneeling pose! How cool is that!

Prime's hit! Cover him!!!

MP series' articulation and balance is so good and no issues in doing difficult poses such as these.
Who do you think will win the melee fight?  ;-)

The only issue I have with this figure is the hollow part at the back. He looks absolutely stunning from the front and sides, but Im not really happy with the back part. But still, its the best Prowl toy you can get in the market currently. Probably a 3rd party will come up with some add on for him to make him look even more breathtaking? We shall see.

Here we have a look at G1 toys in the 80's. Again alternate mode looks ok, but robot mode is....... well, not really good. But in the 80's kids will go crazy over him.

G1 cartoon prowl with bluestreak. They are very similar indeed. Just some paint job difference and Bluestreak always has his shoulder canons with him.

Some nice drawings of Prowl, Jazz and Mirage.

Tracks, Sideswipe and Prowl.

Some Prowl toys over the years. None of them can match the MP series Prowl I must say.

As a whole, Prowl is a very cool robot to collect, Nice add on to your transformers collection, and a must have for all you G1 Fans out there.

Thank You for reading.  :) Cheers.
