Transformers G1 Landcross review

Hello again boys and girls. It has been a while since I've posted any Transformers review. Today I'm going to do a review on one of my dream toy - Landcross! This figure is very rare and hard to find and I am very lucky to stumble upon it online and I quickly grab it. Been wanting this bad boy since I was a kid and finally my childhood dream is fulfilled.

Landcross is actually the name of the combiner from the victory series. The team is called multiforce. They consist of 6 members and they are one most unique combiners to date. The consist of Wing, Waver, Dash, Tacker, Mach, Tackle. Each of them can transform into a robot and an alternate form, but they can also combine as a pair (which is their normal appearance in the cartoon )
So normally they appear as Wingwaver , Dashtacker, and Machtackle. The unique ability of this team is that they can exchange who is the upper half and lower half of the body while performing dual combine, mix and match as you will. In the cartoon series, they are considered greenhorns and require guidance of other seniors or commander such as Blacker or Starsaber. But they are a very cool team nonetheless.

Got this picture of Landcross from the Internet. He looks just awesome !
Love the design!

He comes in a gift box set like this in the olden days ;)

Top 5 Best Transformers Combiner Toys From the G1 Era

Sometimes sold separately as a team of 2
Transformers G1 landcross, Toys & Games, Bricks & Figurines on ...
There was also a  stealth mode variation. I guess this will be super rare nowadays.

Multiforce Stealth Mode (Landcross Stealth Mode) Black Landcross ...

There is also a K.O version out in the market. I almost want to get one of this because I just can't find a complete set for the original previously.

Luckily, as lady luck was on my side, I get to buy the 2004 version
A re-issue version as part of the Transformers:Micromasters

They come as individual boxes of 6
The design for the box is the same for each robot. Or maybe the name is written on each box, I'm not sure as I can't read Japanese :)
Here, it is shown the two-robot pairs, individual robots and their combined mode.

The side view of the box shows the individual robot and their alternate mode.

At the back of the box we can see them in action with Metroplex in the background. I'm not aware Metroplex was in the same era as the Multiforce

And at the side, we can see the best part of this combiner where you can mix and match each two robot pairs for all 6 character and you get a total of 36 possible combinations! How cool was that!

He comes in these accessories and they include 2 feet pads, 2 hands, the combiner head, the chest plate and the groin plate

All 6 of the individual robots do have their personal weapons, and frankly I'm not sure which gun belongs to who LOL
The guns have different designs and they do have quite nice details, but they are all done using black plastic.

Their guns can combine to become a big ass gun for Landcross and I think it is a very cool feature.
Like "All for one and one for all!"

And then we move on to Wing! I think he is the leader for the multiforce team. He transforms into a fighter jet. Transformation for G1 toys have been straight forward and simple. But they look cool nonetheless. And they are precious~~~~~
You can actually put his gun on top of the jet, but for me it looks weird.
Disrupts the aerodynamics if you ask me haha!

His design is not bad, but you can actually see the hands are at the side of the plane. Would be nice if they can tug them in like the G1 Arielbots.

Side view

Back view.

From the bottom we can basically see how he would look like in his robot mode.

And here is Wing in his robot mode. Simple and blocky. That's the G1 spirit. I like!

I don't really like the wings jetting out like that. Doesn't look nice. He is one of those among the 6 who is not very stable and can't stand properly sometimes.
They will all look like they have a very long lower limbs and short arms. Can't be helped as this is part of the transformation process which will be shown later.

His side view

A little close up to see his face sculpt
It is quite detail. Not too bad

Here we can see the unique feature for each Multiforce toy, as there is another head design that can pop out from the other end depending if we want to use him as the upper half, or lower half of the two-robot team.

Peekaboo!

A totally different head sculpt
For a G1 toy, it is considered a very innovative feature.

Next we have Waver! He transforms into a hovercraft
I think I transformed him wrongly, his hands should be pointing downwards LOL
Newbie. You can actually attach Landcross's hand on top and use it as a weapon, but it too looks kinda weird.

The propeller at the back can actually spin , which is really cool
You can see the robot's head there though.

And here he is in his blocky robot mode.
His legs can transform properly and is one of those character among the 6 who has a proper foot.
If you have a foot, you are stable as I always say :)

Side view. In today's standard, people will complain he has too much kibble LOL

Back view

His alternate face design.

And here we have Tackle. He transforms into a truck I suppose. Nice orangy and bluish truck.
Yes, he does roll around nicely

Top view

Side view looks decent

Nothing much to see from the back

You can put Landcross's foot pad as canons for him in alternate mode.
Looks kinda cool. Remind me of Dino Riders somehow  :)

Here he is in his Robot mode. Through doesn't have much of a foot, he is fairly stable

Orange is the new black

Alternate face sculpt

Here we have Tacker. I guess he transforms into a military truck

From the top I guess we can see it looks like him taking a rest as a robot

Nothing much to see here.

Similar as Tackle, he can apply the foot pad on top of his alternate mode as an extra weapon

And here he is in robot mode. He has the biggest gun around :)

Side view looks quite clean, and he is one of those guys who doesn't have a proper foot

Back view

And....... his alternate face sculpt

Next we have Dash! He transforms into a cycbertronian car. Looks kinda like Lightspeed don't you think?

From the back, we can see his robot head, tuck inside

Instead of the Landcross hand, I prefer to put the weapon on top of his alternate mode. Looks more awesome don't you think?

Here is Dash in his robot mode. He is the shortest in robot mode because he is the one with the most descent foot design LOL.

Side view of the feet does look a little funny.

He looks a little broad from the back haha

And here we have his alternate head sculpt

Last but not least, we have Mach! His alternate mode is a shuttle

We can apply Landcross's chest piece as his wings to make him look even more awesome

We can see Landcross's chest piece under his belly

I do like the color scheme on Mach's robot mode. And his red eyes like a Decepticon makes him look even cooler.

Alternate face sculpt.

So next we will proceed with two-robot pair transformation. So all you need to do is to transform one unit at the torso, and the other as the lower limbs.

And here we have Machtackle as seen in the series. He does have weird arms though LOL, even for a G1.

Back view looks kinda awful, but it's the same as all the others where you have the arms of the individual robots jetting out at the back.

Picture I got from the internet

File:Machtackle.jpg

And next we do the same for Wingwaver

Looks slightly better than Machtackle

His picture I got from the internet
File:Wingwaver.jpg

Same issue for the back, but this is less obvious as there are other kibbles at the back to hide it

Dashtacker is next! I suppose they have the least kibble of the three but the lower limb just didn't look good.

Upper half of the body looks way bigger than the lower half.

Happy three friends :)
Yeah... they do bring back memories

OK, and now for the fun part, the next 33 possible combination for this unique combiner team

We have Wingtackle

Wingtacker

Wingmach

Wingdash

Waverwing

Wavertackle

Wavertacker

Waverdash

Wavermach

Here we have Machwing

Machwaver

Machtacker

Machdash

Tacklemach

Tackledash

Tackletacker (LOL)

Tacklewing

Tacklewaver

Dashwing

Dashwaver

Dashtackle

Dashmach

Tackerdash

Tackermach

Tackertackle

Tackerwing

Tackerwaver

I got this clip from Youtube, lets watch once again the awesome landcross combine!
Really does bring back memories.
I still remember the goosebumps I got when I saw them combine the first time :)

Here I will show the sequence of combining them into Landcross himself!
I'm always curious as a kid regarding how they combine. And now I know :)
Form feet and legs!

Form torso!

Form torso again!

Form arms and torso!

And I will form, the head!

Here he is, the man himself! The awesome Landcross!!!
I realy dig the head sculpt and the chest piece. It feel so..... heroic.
Love him!

He is blocky, he looks like a brick, and that's why I love my G1 :)

From the side, he looks kinda thin and malnourished.
He needs more energon

From the back, he looks weird LOL

Here we have a multiforce combiner holding a gun combiner

In all his G1 glory. Nerdgasm......

Some size comparison with G1 Optimus Prime

With MP 12

That's All Folks! Thank you so much for reading.
P.S If movie Jazz had this feature, he wouldn't die in the 1st movie.
Until the day, till all are one ......
Have a great day ahead
