Hello and good day boys and gals, it has been quite a while since I've post any review recently, so happy I can find some time and today I will be doing a review on a 3rd party Transformers , the Iron Factory Racing Bros! This is their take on the Lamborghini Brothers Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. Iron factory has made a name for themselves by making awesome legend size figures. I for one is asucker for small size figures. I have been contemplating to buy their products for a while, but decided to give it a try.
P.S: You gotta love them Powermasters, headmasters, targetmasters :)
As always, lets look at the box design. The box design is not too shabby with a transparent cover in the front featuring those two guys. Not sideswipe is called Blazedash and Sunstreaker is called Boltrunner. (Can imagine them leaving Decepticons eating their dust just by hearing their names)
At the back of the box we can see them with their accessories and alternate mode
The instruction manual is plain and simple
And here we have them out of the box. Don't be fooled by their size, they do come with quite a number of accessories and more accessories means more fun!
First we will have a look at Blazedash himself. The colour matches Sideswipe perfectly and I would say their paint job and plastic quality is excellent. Can't find a paint blemish at all. Nicely done Iron Factory.
The figure itself looks awesome, the body ratio, the head sculpt is spot on. The details on this small figure is amazing, and I'm really impress. They are not cutting corners even though its a legend size figure. The Iron factory line is based on IDW comics I suppose, but I'm not really sure about that. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Side view of the bot is very sleek and clean, no kibble
Back view looks clean as well, impressive.
I tried to get a good close up shot of the figure's head sculpt but it has proven to be difficult as the head is so small and I have zero knowledge about photography lol
This is the best I can do and again, awesome details of the head sculpt. Really impress with the details they put into this figure. Even official products are sometimes not as good as this. They might just paint the while head and face black for all we know.
Another shot of his upper body. Again, awesome details
Of course, for a small size figure such as this, you will surely encounter some restrictions in range of movements. But it's just a minor issue. As they say, with small size, comes small posebility lol.
He can look up slightly.
Able to look down, quite decent range of movement.
His shoulder can rotate a full 360 degrees but because of his ball-joint, he tends to turn internally when u raise his hand.
Shoulder abduction is also limited to about 50 degree.
He can bend his elbow with some decent range of movements, up to 100 degrees.
He does come with a 360 elbow rotation
If you want, you can argue that he has some wrist rotation, as this is part of his transformation.
He has a waist swivel that allows him to turn a full 360 degrees
Hip flexion is about 90 degrees
As well as to the back
He can perform a perfect split, therefore he is awesome!
His thigh is on a ball joint, and he does have a thigh hinge which allows him to turn 360 degrees
Knee has a decent 90 degree range of motion.
You can manipulate his double hinge ankle freely for posing purposes
He does have a small tilting movement over his "toes"
Where would he be without his awesome shoulder canon.
His shoulder canon is so awesome that they decided to give us two of it!
Not only that, you can pose the canon up or down according to your liking
Here he is with his rifle
A close up shot
The attention to details for this figure is simply amazing and I can't stress that enough
And of course, for any Sidewipe figure, you gotta have them pile-drivers! Because everyone saw him using it in the one (or two) episode.
And here we have a look at his jet-pack. (because he did gave prime his jet-pack in that one episode)
However this is not the G1 boxy design jet-pack from G1 cartoon, it look more Gundam-like if you ask me. But still, very nice detail and it is a fun accessory.
Lets pop it onto his back
Even with his jet-pack on, he still looks OK from the side.
The are ball joints in both of his jet-pack and you can rotate and pose it however you like
I'm really hopeless in posing lol
Next we will have a look at his alternate mode. Transforming him is quite easy and straightforward, but again, for a figure this small to have an awesome robot and alternate mode, that's really something. And yes, he does roll around smoothly
Everything tuck in nice and clean. No mechanics will suspect its a robot in disguise when his human owner brings him for maintenance.
Next we shall have a look at Boltrunner. He too looks awesome and he does look like Sunstreaker.
The pain job and plastic quality is as awesome as his brother. Details are again, amazing.
Excellent face sculpt
Clean side view
Back view looks nice as well
Just gotta take this shot
He does come with an alternate head with a fiend-like smile. I'm not sure why, maybe its an IDW thing
He doesn't really have a place to put on his bro's shoulder canon but has it instead on the tip of his shoulder. I guess this look works for me as well
Here we have a look at his rifle
Nice details
Instead of pile-drivers, he has 2 blaster-like thingy that fits into his hands
Well I guess this will make up for his lack of shoulder canon
He has less range of movement over his head compare this his bro, but still a decent left to right ,but not so much up and down
Shoulder abduction is limited too
He can straighten his hands while doing a full 360 degree rotation
Elbow rotation is about 100 degrees
Similar Biceps swivel as his bro
His waist can turn a full 360 degrees. and he has a full 360 wrist rotation, unlike his bro
Hip flexion
He has a better knee flexion than his bro as it is on a double hinge, which allows more manipulation
He is unable to perform a perfect split. Booooooo....... ( JK )
He is awesome
He has a slightly more stable feet when you compare it with his brother
The front part is able to tilt
So is the back
Thigh swivel is there, a full 360
And I am impress with their attention to details yet again because even the transformation is similar to the cartoon, i.e the arms form the back of the car and the leg from the front of the car.
Nice looking alternate mode , everything tabs in nicely and securely
Transformation wise, he is slightly easier than not sideswipe.
Pardon me because I didn't tab in everything nicely
He has an even cleaner underside of the car than his bro
Picture time!
If you want you can fit some accessories onto their vehicle mode
Bang!bros, eh sorry, I mean racing bros :)
A little size comparison with their MP counterpart
Here he is with Fanshobby Not Powermaster Ginrai
PROS: Awesome details, awesome paint job, awesome plastic quality. Fun accessories. Fun size
Decent pricing. Nice to pose with your 3rd party combiners, kinda in scale if you ask me.
CONS: Some limited range of movement
Thank you for reading! Till all are one!
