Hello and good day Transformers Fans around the globe, today I'm going to do another review on another Fansproject figure - Revolver Core (not roadbuster). Well, to start, I'm not really familiar with the character Roadbuster as he mainly came out in the G1 continuity in comic form, and was not featured in the G1 cartoon if I remember correctly. Read some info from the net and it seems like Roadbuster is a pure front-liner type of warrior and he carries all the big guns to battle. He is part of the group called the Wreckers, but as I have not read the IDW comics, I really don't know much about him, but he seems like the Ironhide type of Autobot.
For me, I rarely purchase a figure I don't know much about, but for some reason, this figure really caught my attention. As a whole, he looks like a pretty solid figure and I really like his design, the color, and of course another main factor I got this guy is that he is from Fansproject, and I think I'm officially a Fansproject Fan :) . I mean, their function X series literally blew my mind away with their design, transformation and they did this while maintaining high quality on their products, and it is the same for Revolver core. Revolver core has a unique feature and that is he has a partner, which binds into him in robot mode, not in a headmaster's way but rather a powermaster sort of way.
Here are some pictures I've took from the internet. Roadbuster is the heavy machinery guy alright. Looks tough, something the Autobots need more of this in my opinion.
Kup really looks like a Bad @$$ in this picture, and Roadbuster seems to be the big brute.
Fansproject also release 2 other figures called Recoiler and Riftshot, they are basically the same mold, just some difference in their headscalp and weapons. They both possessed upgrade parts which can fit onto Revolver core, but this also means you need to buy all 3 figures to obtain all the upgrades available. A marketing gimmick I suppose. But I don't have the luxury to own them all.
Revolver core (WB004) comes in a semi-transparent box and I feel that this design is much better then the function-X series box design. Looks more alive.
The side and back of the box shows his robot and alternate mode. He also comes with 4 weapons and his instruction manual.
Here he is out of the box. For me, he looks very awesome. A nice color tone, great body, head and limbs ratio, and clean design. I'm not sure why, but I like the chest and head design, that is the thing that attracts me in the first place. All his joints are ok, not super tight, but the joints on his forearm is a little loose for me, and it just requires a soft touch to displace it, and it bugs me sometimes when I try to pose him. Other than that, he is all good. His paint job is again top notch and good plastic quality from Fansproject you can really feel it in your hands.
His side view looks clean too.
Back view looks ok to me as well. No complains here.
Here we can have a closer look at his head scalp. For me, its really nicely done love the head design. His eyes are painted sky blue (looks nice) , but there is no light pipping.
His head is on a ball joint and he can look up and down to some extend.
He does not really have side to side rotations as the chest piece around his head impedes his side rotations, something that I'm really dissapointed. However, you can forcefully turn his head but he will be stuck looking sideways and downwards.
Minimal head tilting from side to side.
Shoulder abduction can be performed till about 90 degrees on a hinge joint.
And he can further abduct his shoulders to about 160 degrees on another hinge joint,
His shoulder joint do rotate a full 360 degree on a swivel joint.
Elbow is on a hinge joint which allows him to flex to 90 degrees.
Biceps swivel allows him to rotate his biceps to a full 360 degrees.
He has no finger articulations. His fists comes is a fixed position , and the whole fist rotates as a whole. This is a place where I think Fansproject can improve upon and that is adding individual articulating fingers to have their figures more awesome! Just a thought :)
Wrist rotates around.
His waist swivel allows him to do a full 360 degrees turn.
Some hip flexion.
Hip extension.
His thighs are basically on a swivel and his legs are on a ball and hinge joint, here we can see him doing an internal rotation.
His knees are on a double hinge which will be important during his transformation.
He can fully flex his knee joint.
Double hinge knees allows him to do some nice poses, and as a whole, he is a very stable figure.
One of the reason he is so stable is that his feet can tilt inwards or outwards.
When I first saw his foot, I'm a little worry he would not be very stable during posing as the heel part is a bit smaller than I would like it to be, but I was wrong.
He can flex his foot all the way as this is part of his transformation, making him more posable.
Has minimal tilting.
Here we ca see the place where his core is attached to Revolver, powermaster style. We will call the mini guy power master from this point onward ok?
You can remove the powermaster by flipping down the back on both sides.
The powermaster does not really snaps onto any part of the robot, but rather it just slides in, secured by the 2 back panels.
Well, here is how he looks like without his powermaster.
Here is his powermaster or rather his core I assume. They are not slacking off even if this is a mini guy and I do like the details they put into this guy. He has this goggles-like thing on his forehead like Naruto. Transformation from core to robot mode is also interesting.
His side view. His hands are so big that you can't really see his head lol.
From the back view, we can see his head is on a ball joint, similar to all his limbs.
He can tilt his head upwards or rather backwards as it is part of his transformation.
His articulations is almost the same as the Function X series headmasters. The only difference is his head tilting and rotations and he does have an elbow joint. Again, like what Fansproject did to their powermasters with those added articulations and fine details on the mold.
Her we can see his shoulder joint movements.
He is very stable for a bulky little guy .
Posable too.
If Fansproject will go as far as designing a blaster for this guy to hold, then it will really leave me flabbergasted. Again, just a thought.
Here is a little comparison of core with function X-4's headmaster. He is bigger in size and have more articulations.
Here we can see the size comparison in his alternate mode.
A very interesting feature for revolver core is his weapons. He comes with a total of 4 weapons which you can mix and match! How cool is that!? He comes with 2 SMG/Pistols, a canon and a rifle.
His weapons can be combine to make 2 bigger weapons.
And to suit his personally as the one carrying the big guns, his SMG/pistols, canon and rifle can be combines to form a bigger weapon!
With all these weapon choices, you can really mix and match and pose him with a variety of arsenals.
Damn I look good......
Give me a target!
Shoot first, ask questions later......
You can also choose to attach any of his weapons on either side of his back which makes him look even cooler.
You can attach both medium weapons.
Or call in the heavy artillery.
" The Expendable" pose.
I'm awesome!!!!!! Watch out Decepticons!
Here is a little size comparison with MP-10.
Here he is with MP-12.
Here he is with function X3 and X4
And here he is with cubex not Huffer.
His alternate mode is an armored jeep and I do like his alternate mode. The cool thing about his alternate mode is that both his pistols can be combined to form his front bumper and the rest of his weapons can he attach in a variety of ways on his vehicle mode.
Front view.
In this side view, we can see the front has wheels while the back has tracks like tanks. Sad part is that only the front wheels roll, while the back is stationary.
Another side view.
Back view. Here we can see his exhaust pipe.
You can fit his weapons on the top.....
At the side......
Or at the back.....
He just gives you so many options to equip him. Makes him very fun to play with.
His powermaster can sit comfortably in the car seat. I have a small problem when transforming him into his alternate mode and it is that his windshield cannot align nicely, I've check the alignment during transformation but not sure what went wrong. Probably some of you guys can give some tips?
Here is some size comparison with MP-12 in alternate mode. They are roughly the same size, just that revolver core is slightly bigger. Just a little.
Taken a picture from the net. Hasbro has also recently released their official Roadbuster, but if given a choice, I would choose Revolver. They do differ quite a lot in price but in the end, its your personal preference.
Articulation and posability: 8.5/10
