MP 12 G

Hello and good day to all. My next review will be on MP-12G aka Generation 2 Sideswipe. Well to be honest, I'm not really familiar with this version of sideswipe but I decided to buy it mainly because his weaponry has been upgraded substantially and he has a very..... well, "interesting" head scalp. Well, from the internet, generation 2 Sideswipe a group called Firestormers, a group of Autobots who hunt down the remaining Decepticons after the war ended. The other members include: Broadside, Hound, Blades.

Here are some pictures from the internet for G2 Sideswipe. Seems to me they are a bunch of heavy artillery Autobot group.

Here he is in all his glory......

The back of the box. Besides showing his robot mode and alternate mode, there is also a picture from his comic. If we really do compare the masterpiece and the comic strip, I think they have done another wonderful job.

A very punk version of Sideswipe. Now we know where the idea of the head scalp came from :)

Here he is out of the box and he does come with his coin. His new weapons include a machete, 2 SMGs, and 2 wheels with spikes? lol

His instruction manual.

He also comes with some stickers, and the interesting part is that you can choose his autobot symbol, generation 1 or 2.

As usual he comes with a collector's card, similar to the other MPs'

The thing that I don't get is that, after all that added arsenal, his firepower is only 3? Come on.......

Well, here he is in his vehicle mode. He looks very sexy in black. and you can actually see the interior of the vehicle mode which is very sweet. His paint job is very nice, and still retains the original colours for sedeswipe, namely red, black and white. For his G2 version as you can see, black will be the main colour for Sideswipe.

Black is the new gold.....

I think his side view looks the coolest.   :)

Like MP 12, 17, 18 and 19, you can attach his weapons on top of his car hood. His 2 SMGs actually can be merged to become 1 whole weapon to fit on top of him.

Much improve firepower.

Laid out all his new toys.

Technically, you can fit all his weapons on top of his hood. Not so sure about fitting a machete on top of your car will help in combat, but oh well......

I choose the G2 Autobot sticker as that is the whole point of releasing this version of Sideswipe.

Here he is in robot mode. Transformation is basically the same with MP-12, no difference between those 2.

His head scalp basically intends to show a punk , I-Don't-Give-A-Damn Sideswipe but to some people, he just looks constipated, lol.

A closer look at his headscalp.

Here he is with both his shoulder spiky wheels on. Looks bad@SS!

Dual weapon wielding makes him so much cooler!

His articulation is the same as MP-12.

" Move a muscle and I'll blow yer head off!"

Shooting seekers out from the sky.

"Who's next?"

With his wider array of weapons, posing him is much more fun.

The other fun part is that if you have MP-12 you can basically mix and match their shoulder weapon and hand wielding weapons.

Sideswipe from both generations. As you can see, they just alternate the black and red colours. The part with the white paint is basically the same.

Group picture!!!

Here is a comparison of the MP version and the 80's version. ( Picture from internet )
Look how far we've come......

G2 accuracy: 9.5/10
Articulation and posability: 9/10
Plastic Quality: 9/10
Box Quality: 8/10
Collectors card: 8/10
Instruction manual: 9/10
Paint Quality: 9/10
Price: Same as MP12

Summary: Well, with all the new paint job, weaponry and head scalp, nothing much to shout about. Basically the same mold as MP-12. He is not part of G1 series. If you have the extra cash, you can get him, but if you're tight on budget, you can just skip him and save your money for the upcoming MP-20 and MP-21. For me, those 2 will be worth the money for G1 toy collectors.

Thank You again for reading.
